''Sweet Peas 1'' is a botanical monoprint featuring the beautiful summery flower - the Sweet Pea. Normally, they grow abundantly on a trellis in my garden but this year the slugs got to them. Dann them slugs. However, a friend kindly gifted me with a bunch of Sweet Peas, full of a beautiful scent. I enjoyed them for a week or so before putting them in the flower press. This monoprint, Is the first in my three-step process, where I lay the pressed flowers on an inked plate, with my chosen paper, they go through the etching press and the ink transfers to the paper around the plants. Notice the debossed details of the leaves in the uninked area.

The technique of botanical monoprinting is a slow process, requiring all plants to be pressed for a few weeks before printmaking. Each piece is carefully curated using individual plants, making your artwork unique. The plant is inked up evenly and then put through the etching press with my chosen paper, where it presses the plant into the paper leaving an intricate copy of the delicate details.
This process allows me to slow down, by going on regular foraging walks I can connect with my surroundings. I hope this piece will enable you to feel closer to nature and appreciate the smaller details within the world of botany.
Your print will come with a biodegradable sleeve, backing board and a thoughtful thank you note, all carefully packaged in tissue paper and wrapping paper to ensure its safe arrival.
