In The Shadows - Monoprint - A4 1/1

''In the Shadows'' is a part of my experimental grasses monoprints series. I'm hugely inspired by the diversity of grasses and their elegance in the summer months. As well as my usual style of botanical monoprints, I wanted to create a collection that was a little different. Perhaps doesn't tell you everything, has hidden details and that you really have to look to try and depict what's going on. This piece, ''In The Shadows'', features two techniques rolled into one. The base layer of the image (the ghostly-looking grasses) is a ghost print and then I've added fresh, uninked grasses on top to block areas out.

• Fabriano Unica paper, 250gsm. 50% cotton. Print plate 6x9 inch. 
• Black ink. Soy based.

The technique of botanical monoprinting is a slow process, requiring all plants to be pressed for a few weeks before printmaking. Each piece is carefully curated using individual plants, making your artwork unique. The plant is inked up evenly and then put through the etching press with my chosen paper, where it presses the plant into the paper leaving an intricate copy of the delicate details.

This process allows me to slow down, by going on regular foraging walks I can connect with my surroundings. I hope this piece will enable you to feel closer to nature and appreciate the smaller details within the world of botany. 

Your print will come with a biodegradable sleeve, backing board and a thoughtful thank you note, all carefully packaged in tissue paper and wrapping paper to ensure its safe arrival.
